The Location
Joshua Tree National Park is located in southern California, about 2 hours east of Los Angeles and about 3 hours northeast of San Diego.
This gem is a desert photographer's dream and has become quite popular within the past few years. Joshua Tree includes the following features: "Rounded blocks of coarse-grained monzogranite. A plump chuckwalla basks in the sun. The bizarre branches of Joshua trees. Wide-open desert skies. The fluttering flight of a bird into the sheltering arms of a catclaw acacia. Helmeted rock climbers gracefully working their way up a rock face." - National Park Service
Directions
Navigating Joshua Tree can be a little confusing so be sure to check out the National Park Service website here to see where the entrances are.
A permit is required for commercial use
Use this link to get your permit to shoot here. If you're not sure if you will need a permit, contact Jeannie_Wilson@nps.gov. You do not need a permit for personal use.
Tips from the Tribe
"For photographers, I recommend shooting their beautiful golden hour. There are restrooms upon entering the national park, and parking is super easy.
There are designated areas to park in with information about the area you're in, as well as an easily accessible parking lot. It is definitely one of my favorite places to shoot!" - Alyssa McVay
