A plentiful sand source and strong prevailing winds have combined to create Little Sahara, one of the largest dune fields found in Utah which is owned and managed by the Bureau of Land Management. There are 60,000 acres of sand dunes here. They're located west of Nephi, Utah. The Little Sahara Sand Dunes are also very popular for motorcyclists, ATVs, and sand surfers. The dunes do get snow during the winter months and the sand gets quite wet during the spring.
Weekdays (Mon-Thu) are the best to shoot since the crowds are not as crazy. Friday through Sunday are the busiest and most crowded days.
Parking Permit Required
$18 per vehicle per day. The actual parking lot itself is only for 1 hour parking, so the BLM asks that you keep going past the cattle guards where you can then park anywhere along the road.
The entrance road to Little Sahara is 4 miles west of Jericho Junction. It is less than 2 hours south from Salt Lake City.
